Biography

Zeki Amdouni began his senior career in Switzerland, progressing through Étoile Carouge and Stade Lausanne-Ouchy before establishing himself in the Swiss Super League with Lausanne-Sport. His performances earned him a move to FC Basel, where he enjoyed a standout 2022/23 campaign, scoring 22 goals across all competitions and helping Basel reach the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa Conference League. His form attracted interest from England and in July 2023, Zeki completed a move to Premier League side Burnley FC.

After his first season in English football, Zeki joined Portuguese giants Benfica on loan for the 2024/25 campaign, gaining further domestic and European experience before returning to Burnley. At international level, he made his senior Switzerland debut in 2022 and quickly became an important part of the national setup. He was Switzerland’s leading scorer during UEFA Euro 2024 qualifying with six goals and went on to represent his country at the tournament, where Switzerland reached the quarter-finals.

Zeki was selected again for Switzerland for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, making four appearances as the nation enjoyed another impressive run to the quarter-finals. Switzerland progressed through the knockout stages with victories over Algeria and Colombia before facing reigning world champions Argentina in the last eight. Zeki came on during the quarter-final as Switzerland pushed Argentina into extra time, before eventually bowing out 3–1. He has now made 33 senior appearances for Switzerland, scoring 11 international goals.
